If yelling was how your house handled problems, talking it out will feel foreign at first. Foreign isn’t wrong.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A calm conversation can feel wrong to your body if you grew up in a house where volume was how anything got resolved. The unfamiliarity is not a sign that the new way is dishonest or that you are being cold. You are running a method nobody demonstrated for you, which always feels stiff at first.

Allow yourself to be awkward at it. Say the plain version of what you mean, even if it comes out stilted and rehearsed. Fluency in this arrives the same way it does in anything, through repetition rather than through feeling natural on day one.
