The clock has never been impressed by anyone’s potential.

Potential is not currency. Being capable of something buys you nothing over time, and the years pass at the same rate whether you are using what you have or holding it in reserve. This is one of the harder things about being talented: the ability can become a comfort that replaces the work. Time only ever registers what was actually done.

Ask where you have been relying on the fact that you could rather than the fact that you have. Then convert one of those into something small and real this month. Potential becomes a burden if it is never spent.
