Visit memory lane, sure. Just don’t sign a lease there.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Looking back is not the problem. Living there is, and the shift from one to the other is gradual enough that people do not notice when the visiting turned into residence. The past is a fine place to spend an afternoon and a poor place to keep your things.
Notice how long you spend with old photographs, old messages, old versions of the story. Set a limit if it has been creeping up. Then go and do something today that will be worth remembering later.
Which stretch of your past do you revisit a little too often?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
