Take a different route home sometimes. Your brain notices more when it’s off autopilot.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Familiar routes let your mind go quiet, which is restful and also means whole stretches of a day leave no trace at all. Small changes to the path wake attention back up, because you have to actually look again. Novelty does not need to be large to do this. It only has to be unfamiliar enough that autopilot switches off.

Alter one routine this week: a different street, a different seat, a different order of doing things. Notice what you see that you had stopped seeing. Keep whichever change makes the day feel longer in a good way.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

When did you last reach somewhere familiar by an unfamiliar way?
