Staying with a group as it heads somewhere you do not want to go often gets called loyalty by the people who benefit from your staying. Consequences get shared out regardless of whose idea it was. Stepping away is a decision about direction rather than a verdict on anyone in it. It can be done without a speech and without making enemies.

Start by being less available rather than by announcing anything. If asked directly, say honestly that it is not for you. Leave the door open for whoever decides the same thing later.
