Peer pressure is just people asking you to fund their decision with your future.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
When a group pushes you towards something, the risk distributes unevenly. They get the company and the shared story tonight, and whatever follows lands mostly on whoever was actually holding the thing. This is rarely malicious. Nobody in that moment is thinking about anyone’s next five years, including their own.
Ask who carries the consequence if it goes badly. If the answer is only you, that is reason enough. A plain no with nothing attached to it is much harder to argue with than a well constructed explanation.
Whose bad idea nearly became your problem last year?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
