A quiet habit done every day beats a big announcement made once.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Announcements are cheap and pay out immediately, which is exactly why they so often replace the thing itself. A repeated small action compounds with no audience at all and is much harder for that reason, since there is no applause at any point along the way. The gap between the two is why so many stated plans vanish quietly in week three.
Whatever you were about to declare, do it privately for a fortnight first. Make the daily version small enough to survive a bad day. Mention it afterwards, if at all, once there is something to point at.
Which announcement did you make instead of just starting?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
