Ask what keeps running after you graduate. That’s the part of your leadership that was real.

Work that depends on your presence is a performance; work that continues without you is a structure. The difference only becomes visible after you go, which is why it is worth asking about now, while you can still change the answer. Anything held together by your personal effort will quietly end when your effort does.

Look at what you currently hold up alone and start writing it down, teaching it, or handing pieces of it over. Ask who would do this if you were ill for a month. Build toward the version where the honest answer is a name.
