Watching someone competent produces a clear, convincing feeling of understanding, and the feeling is the problem. You are following a path somebody else already found, so every decision looks obvious in the order they made it. None of the difficulty is present, which means none of the learning is either.

Stop after the next tutorial and build the smallest possible thing without it. You will get stuck almost immediately, and that sticking point is the actual lesson the video skipped. One finished attempt teaches more than the six that came before it.
