“Not a math person” is usually “had one bad teacher in fifth grade.” Rewrite the story.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Most people who describe themselves that way are reporting an old experience, not a measurement. One confusing year, one teacher you could not follow, and the conclusion forms early and then stops being examined. It gets repeated so often that it starts to sound like a fact about your brain rather than a summary of fifth grade.

Test it rather than believing it. Go back to the earliest thing that lost you and work forward slowly, alone, with no audience. Whatever you find will be more accurate than a label a child accepted for you.
