Good judgment improves when emotion is heard without automatically being obeyed.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Feelings carry real information about what you value and what you fear, and dismissing them leaves you poorer at reading a situation. The trouble starts when the feeling arrives already holding a plan. Anger reports that a line was crossed, but its suggested response is rarely proportionate. Listening without obeying keeps the signal and drops the command.

When something in you spikes, name what the feeling is telling you before deciding anything. Say the sentence out loud if it helps: I feel dismissed, I feel afraid this will fail. Then choose your response separately, as a different act, with the feeling still in the room but not holding the pen.
