A wise decision can require disappointing one good principle to protect a more important one.

RESILIENCE
Principles are not a system that resolves itself. Honesty and kindness collide, loyalty and fairness collide, and a decision that honors all of them equally is often not available. Choosing well can mean knowingly falling short of something good in order to protect something you have judged more important. The discomfort of that is not a sign you chose wrong; it is the cost of having more than one value.
When two things you believe in pull against each other, stop trying to find the option that betrays neither. Name both, say plainly which one you are putting first here and why, and accept the debt to the other. Then look for the smallest way to honor the one you set aside.
Which two things you value have been pulling you in opposite directions?
