Refusing to learn something at twenty doesn’t save you effort. It just moves the bill to forty.

REFLECTION
Avoidance does not cancel a requirement, it defers it, and the deferral has costs attached. The same material takes longer to absorb later, arrives with more at stake, and usually has to be learned while doing something else demanding. What looks like saving effort is mostly moving it to a version of you with fewer free hours.
Think about what you are currently declining to learn and why. If the reason is tedium or embarrassment at starting, that is not a reason, it is a delay. Twenty is a very cheap time to be a beginner.
What are you avoiding now that will be harder at forty?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
