The summary is someone else’s opinion of the thing. Go read the thing.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
A summary is a set of choices about what mattered, made by someone with their own purposes and their own blind spots. It arrives sounding neutral because the choosing is invisible, and what gets dropped is usually the texture, the doubts and the parts that resist a clean sentence. Those are frequently the most interesting parts of the original.
When something genuinely matters to you, go to the source and form your own view first. Read the summary afterwards and notice what it left out. That comparison teaches you as much about summaries as about the subject.
