Pride will keep you lost for an hour so you don’t have to ask for directions for ten seconds.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Pride does strange arithmetic. It will happily spend an hour of wandering to avoid ten seconds of looking like you do not know something. The discomfort of asking is sharp and brief, the cost of not asking is dull and long, and the dull one is easier to accept because it never forces a moment of exposure.
Notice the next time you are circling a problem alone. Ask yourself what the question would actually cost you if you said it out loud. Usually the answer is a few seconds of feeling small, and then you are moving again.
What has your pride cost you in wasted time lately?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
