It’s weird how fast we get bored of the things we once begged for. Notice before the shine wears off.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Novelty has a short half-life, and the decay starts immediately. Whatever you waited for is at its most vivid in the first days, and after that it quietly becomes furniture, which is why people can be surrounded by answered wishes and still feel like nothing arrived. The window for noticing is narrow and it closes without a sound.
Use the window while it is open. On the first day of something you wanted, stop for a moment and take an honest look at it. That thirty seconds of attention is roughly the only defense there is against adaptation.
What did you beg for that you barely look at?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
