Consuming feels good for an hour. Contributing feels good for years.

CREATIVITY
Two satisfactions are available and they have very different half-lives. Taking something in is immediate and complete, and an hour later there is nothing left of it; making something, even badly, leaves an object in the world and a memory of having done it. Neither is wrong, and only one of them accumulates.
Keep the ratio in view rather than trying to eliminate one side. If a week has been all intake, put an hour into making something small, for nobody in particular. The satisfaction is slower to arrive and considerably harder to use up.
