Someone else having it worse doesn’t cancel out your bad day. Perspective should comfort you, not shame you.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Comparison gets used as a disqualification when it was never meant to be one. Suffering is not a fixed quantity that someone else’s larger share removes from yours; both can be true at the same time, and telling yourself otherwise mostly adds guilt on top of whatever was already difficult. A fact about someone else is not an argument against your own experience.

Notice when perspective arrives as a rebuke rather than as relief. Let the difficulty be what it is, then decide what would help. You can hold a sense of proportion and still take your own bad day seriously.
