The urge to file down anything unusual about yourself is strong, because the unusual parts are what attract comment. Your specific interest is the one bit of you that is not interchangeable with anybody else. Sanding it off makes you easier to place and considerably less useful to have around.

Keep the strange thing and let people find out about it. Go looking for others who are equally specific, because they exist and they are not hard to find now. When you are tempted to describe yourself in flatter terms, say the real version and watch what happens.
