Talent wins you the tryout. Character keeps you on the team for years.

LEADERSHIP
Ability is what gets measured on day one, because it is the only thing visible that quickly. Afterwards people are around you constantly, and what settles whether they want you there is how you take correction, how you handle somebody else’s good day, and what you are like during the weeks when you are playing badly.
Assume the tryout was the easy part and put your attention on the daily version. Be coachable and be decent to the people competing with you. Those habits transfer into every group you will ever join, which raw ability does not reliably do.
What keeps you in rooms your talent got you into?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
