Be proud of your block without believing you have to stay on it.

Where you come from gets treated as a loyalty test in both directions: leave and you are a traitor, stay and you lack ambition. Neither reading holds. Pride and departure sit together easily, and people who left often carry the place with them more consciously than those who never had to.

If you want to go, go, and say plainly that it is about what you want rather than what is wrong there. Keep the ties by coming back, calling, sending things. And if you want to stay, make it a choice you made rather than one that happened to you.
