Take inventory of what you already have before you go shopping for what you don’t.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Wanting gets generated faster than it can be satisfied, and much of it comes from exposure rather than need. Most people already own a version of whatever they are about to buy, unused or forgotten in a drawer somewhere. Looking first is a small interruption in a loop that otherwise runs by itself.

Before the next purchase, go and find what you already have that does the job. Use it for a week and see whether the want survives. The same check works beyond objects, on opportunities you chase while something already good sits idle.
