A reaction is a reflex. A response has a plan behind it. Take one breath and choose which one to send.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
The gap between something happening and what you do about it is where all the choice lives, and a reflex closes that gap to nothing. Reactions are fast and are almost always about the previous five seconds. A response takes account of what you want afterwards, which is rarely the same thing at all.
Build a pause into anything you send while annoyed, even one breath or a walk to the kettle. Write the reply and hold it until the feeling drops. Very little genuinely requires an answer inside the next minute.
