Your ego keeps a scrapbook of every argument you won. Nobody else is flipping through it.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Wins in conversation feel much larger from the inside than they ever look from outside. You remember the good line and the moment the other person had nothing; they remember being made to feel small, or nothing at all, because they moved on that evening. Maintaining the collection returns very little. Mostly it makes you harder to be around.
Next time you are about to land a point, ask what you actually want from the exchange. Sometimes it really is the win. More often it is agreement, and the two need different sentences.
Which argument win are you still quietly proud of?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
