If you’re making something new, being misunderstood for a while is part of the deal.

Anything genuinely unfamiliar has to be described in words built for the old thing, so early descriptions of it will always be slightly wrong. People are not being obtuse. They are placing what you made into the nearest category they already own, and that misreading is a stage rather than a verdict. It usually ends once there is enough work to see the pattern in.

Keep making it instead of defending it. Show more examples rather than better arguments. Understanding tends to arrive by accumulation, and it does arrive.
