You won’t feel ready and then start. You’ll start, and then slowly feel ready.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Readiness is produced by doing a thing, not by preparing to do it, which means waiting for the feeling puts the sequence backwards. Confidence comes from evidence, and evidence only exists after an attempt. What preparation actually buys you is a slightly better first attempt, which is worth having and is not the same as being ready. The feeling turns up late, usually somewhere in the middle.

Set a start date that does not depend on how you feel that morning. Begin badly and on time. The feeling catches up with the action within a few weeks.
