An opinion formed from one headline is just a guess that got dressed up.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Headlines are written to be read fast and to make you feel something, which makes them excellent at producing confidence and poor at producing understanding. Once you hold a view you stop gathering, and everything after that gets sorted into agreement or noise. Speed is the whole problem here. An opinion that arrives in four seconds has nothing underneath it yet.

Before repeating something this week, read past the first paragraph or say plainly that you only saw the headline. Both are honest. Only one of them is pretending to be knowledge.
