Every promise you keep to yourself is a brick. Break enough of them and you end up living in a tent.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Self-trust behaves the same way trust with anyone else does. It accumulates through kept agreements and erodes through broken ones, except that nobody else witnesses the breaking, so there is no consequence beyond the quiet one: your own intentions stop meaning much to you. Eventually you make plans you already know you will not follow. The material to build with is small and constant.
Make one promise to yourself this week small enough that you will certainly keep it. Keep it. Then make another one.
What did you swear you would do today and skip?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
