An act with no audience is the only kind that tells you something clean about your own motives. Everything visible gets mixed, not because you are dishonest, but because recognition is a genuine reward and the mixture is unavoidable. Take away the witness and the mixture goes too. What remains is between you and the thing you did.

Pick something small and untraceable this week, the version nobody knows to thank you for. Do not mention it afterwards, including in a roundabout way. The quiet is the whole point.
