Thoughts at 2 a.m. are wildly confident and usually wrong. Wait for daylight before you believe them.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
A tired brain is worse at judgement and considerably better at certainty, which is an unfortunate combination. Late at night the worst interpretation arrives with total conviction and no competition, because nothing else is happening and no evidence is available to check it against. The thoughts feel like clarity finally breaking through. Mostly they are a symptom of the hour.
Make a rule that nothing decided after midnight counts, and write the thought down instead of acting on it. Read it in daylight. Some of it will still be true, at a different size.
What did you decide at night that morning corrected?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
