Long lines teach you more about yourself than short ones.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Waiting removes your options and leaves whatever you are made of standing there with nothing to do. You find out quickly whether delay makes you resentful, whether you need a screen to survive ten empty minutes, and how you treat the person at the counter. None of that shows up when everything is quick.
Next time you are stuck in one, put the phone away and notice what your mind does with the gap. Do not try to enjoy it, just watch. What you learn there will show up again in traffic, in illness, and in everything you cannot speed up.
How do you behave when something makes you wait?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
