You can respect a feeling without building an argument around it.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
A feeling can be honored without being turned into a case. What usually happens instead is that the emotion arrives and the mind immediately begins constructing justifications for it, assembling evidence that the anger is deserved or the fear is warranted. Once the argument exists it becomes hard to let the feeling pass, because letting go would now mean losing a debate.
Try saying that you feel something and stopping there, without the because. I feel hurt. I feel resentful. No supporting material. It is surprisingly difficult and surprisingly freeing, because a feeling with no argument attached is allowed to change on its own.
Which mood have you defended with reasons you invented afterward?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
