The key ring gets heavier every year with doors you’ll never open again. Clean out your pockets.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
You keep carrying things long after the thing they belonged to ended, mostly because discarding them requires a decision and carrying them does not. Old obligations, group chats, subscriptions and unfinished plans all stay in the pocket by default, each weighing almost nothing. Nothing forces the review, so the weight just accumulates.
Set aside an hour to go through what you are still carrying and let some of it go. Say out loud which door each one opens, and if the answer is none, put it down. The relief tends to be out of proportion to what you dropped.
What are you still carrying from a closed chapter?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
