A pinch of salt makes the dish. A cup ruins it. Most good things are about dose.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Almost nothing is good or bad in itself, and almost everything depends on how much. Ambition, honesty, rest, caution and affection are each valuable at one quantity and damaging at another, which is why arguments about whether a trait is good tend to go nowhere. The real question is always how much, and in what situation.
Take a quality you consider a strength and ask where you are currently overapplying it. Notice what happens when you dial it back slightly rather than abandoning it. Knowing your own dose is more useful than deciding which virtues you have.
