A friend who never tells you no is basically a mirror with a pulse.

Agreement without friction gives you no new information. Someone who reflects everything back confirms whatever you brought in, which feels pleasant and leaves you exactly as wrong as you were. What makes a person useful to you is the willingness to be briefly unpleasant when it matters.

Think about who last told you something you did not want to hear, and treat that as a sign of their value. Make it safe to disagree with you by thanking people when they do. And be that friend once this week, gently and only where it counts.
