A finished ugly thing teaches you more than a beautiful thing you never finish.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Completion is where the lessons live, because the last stretch contains every problem you can avoid by staying in the planning stage. An unfinished masterpiece protects your sense of yourself, while a finished bad one gives you the whole cycle, including seeing plainly what did not work. You cannot learn the ending until you have reached one.

Take something you have been polishing and declare it done this week, at whatever quality it currently is. Let someone see it. Then start the next one immediately, because the second attempt is where everything you learned actually gets used.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What could you finish this week even if it’s rough?
