Outrage costs one tap. Actually helping costs a Saturday.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Feeling strongly about something and doing something about it are separated by a very large gap, and the first one is engineered to feel like the second. A reaction takes a second and produces the sensation of having participated. Actual help is slow, unglamorous, and usually involves a specific person rather than a cause.
Pick one thing you have had strong feelings about lately and give it four hours of your actual time this month. Deliver something, sit with someone, do the boring administrative part nobody volunteers for. You will do far less good than the feeling suggested, and it will be real.
Which cause have you posted about but never shown up for?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
