If your online self and your offline self met, would they get along?
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
There is nothing dishonest about being a bit different in different rooms, since everyone is. The question is whether the gap has grown into two people who would find each other strange. When the version of you that posts and the version that eats dinner hold different opinions and different tempers, the distance costs something to maintain.
Rather than auditing yourself, notice one specific difference. Maybe you are funnier there, or angrier, or more certain. Ask which one you would rather be in a year. Then move the two a little closer, in whichever direction you actually respect. Coherence is quieter and much less tiring.
