Feelings don’t read your schedule. They show up when they show up. Let them.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Emotion does not check whether this is a convenient hour. Grief arrives in a supermarket, anger during a meeting, a wave of something in the middle of an ordinary Tuesday, and none of it is a sign that you are handling things badly. Pushing a feeling out of a bad moment usually just moves it to a worse one.

When something shows up off schedule, give it a minute rather than a fight. Step outside, breathe, name what it is without explaining it to yourself. Most feelings ask to be acknowledged more than they ask to be obeyed.
