Riding a trend puts you in a position that belongs to someone else and expires without warning. What you build into yourself does not expire, though it also does not pay immediately, and that delay is why most people chase the rented version. Missing a wave costs you a moment. Missing the skill costs you the decade.

If you feel late to something, ask what underneath it is durable. The craft, the tool, the understanding that will still be useful when the surface fashion has moved. Spend your time there and let yourself look slow for a year.
