Harvest is the fun part everyone posts. Planting and weeding were the part that made it possible.

What gets shared is the collection, never the maintenance. That produces a strange picture of how results happen, in which things simply appear, and it makes your own unglamorous middle feel like evidence you are doing it wrong. The invisible months are not missing from other people’s stories. They were just never posted.

When you see someone’s result, mentally add the season in front of it. And when you are in your own weeding phase, mark it somehow, a photo or a note, so that later you have a record of what the harvest cost.
