Value and immediacy are unrelated. Something can be worth an amount of time far longer than your patience for it, and arrive changed, late, and still be the best thing available. The long crossing is not a defect in the light. It is the reason it reaches you at all.

Pick one thing you want that will clearly take years and let yourself want it anyway, without demanding a faster route. Put a small amount into it regularly. You are sending something out that will land somewhere, possibly later than you would like, and it still counts.
