A rushed haircut takes two months to grow out. Some decisions deserve the extra ten minutes.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Decisions differ in how long their consequences last, and your speed should be set by that rather than by convenience. A choice you can undo tomorrow deserves very little deliberation, but one that stays with you for months deserves the small delay that would have caught the mistake. Most regret comes from applying the fast setting to the slow category.

Before you commit, ask how long you will be living with the result. If the answer is weeks or more, buy yourself ten minutes and one clear question. That is usually all the extra care it takes.
