RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Early discomfort in a new skill is structural, not a signal that you are unsuited to it. Body and mind are both being reshaped for a demand they have not met before, and that reshaping hurts in a specific way which fades once the adaptation is in place. Most people stop during the adaptation and conclude the thing was not for them.

Give anything new a fixed trial that outlasts the sore stage, six weeks rather than a feeling. Turn up in small doses often enough for the adaptation to happen. The difficulty at the start is not the difficulty of the thing.
