A society reveals values through what it forgives and what it refuses to notice.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

You can read a group’s real values less from what it says than from its pattern of leniency. Which harms are quietly absorbed, which are treated as unfortunate necessities, whose mistakes are career-ending and whose are learning experiences. What goes unremarked is the strongest signal of all, because it shows what has been placed outside the frame entirely.

Apply the same reading to the rooms you are in. Ask what kind of behavior consistently passes without comment here, and who benefits from that silence. Then ask what you have stopped noticing. Choosing to notice again is often the only thing available to you, and it is not nothing.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What does your circle quietly overlook that you have stopped questioning?
