Advice nobody requested is a flyer on your windshield. Read it if you want, then drive.

Unasked-for advice usually says more about the person handing it out than about your situation. It arrives with no knowledge of your constraints and no stake in the outcome. You are allowed to receive it politely and give it no authority at all.
The next time somebody tells you what you should do, try a neutral thank you and nothing more. No defending, no explaining your reasons. Later, on your own, decide whether any part of it was useful and let the rest go where old flyers go.
Whose unasked-for advice still rattles around in your head?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
