Every problem looks double its size at midnight. Sunrise shrinks most of them back to normal.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

A tired brain is worse at judging scale, worse at generating solutions, and worse at recalling anything that contradicts a bleak view. That is a physical state rather than a clear-eyed look at your life, though it is very convincing from the inside. The same situation genuinely assesses differently after sleep.

Make a rule that nothing gets decided or concluded after a certain hour. Write the worry down so it is held somewhere, then go to bed. Read the note in the morning and see whether it still reads the way it did.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which worry grows teeth only after everyone else is asleep?
