Pardoning a person doesn’t mean rehiring them. Forgiveness closes the case; it doesn’t reopen the position.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Forgiveness and trust are separate decisions that usually arrive bundled together, which is why people get stuck. Letting go of the grievance is something you can do alone, for your own sake, and it does not require their participation. Restoring access depends on behavior over time and is not owed to anybody.
Decide the two questions separately this week for whoever is on your mind. You can stop carrying the anger and still keep the distance. If they want more than that, let the way they act over months be what answers it.
Who have you forgiven without letting back in completely?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
