You don’t need every piece of bad news in the world to be a good person. Set a limit and go outside.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Continuous exposure to suffering you cannot act on produces distress without producing help. Caring is real, and taking in an endless supply of it exhausts exactly the capacity you would need to do anything useful. Past a certain point, awareness stops converting into action.
Choose when and how you take in the news instead of letting it arrive all day. Once, at a set time, from a source you trust. Put the rest of that attention into something near you that you can actually affect this week.
How much news do you take in before it helps nobody?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
