If you look at everything through the crack from one bad breakup, every new person looks broken.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

An injury teaches you a pattern, and the pattern keeps running long after the danger is gone. What was once accurate protection becomes a filter that finds warning signs everywhere, including in people who have given you none. It is not paranoia and it is not a fault of yours, it is a nervous system doing what it learned to do.

When suspicion arrives, try separating what this person has actually done from what the last one did. Write the two lists if it helps. You do not have to trust quickly, only to make sure the evidence you are using belongs to the person in front of you.
